HIGH POWER RIFLE

Please note:

  • .22 LR at Gateway Range: Requires membership; runs continuously year long; Monday evenings

  • .22 LR at Miller Road Range: Requires membership; runs Winter & Spring one day a month (see calendar)

  • .22 LR at Portage Wildlife Range: Requires membership

  • Full-bore at CF St. Charles Rifle Range: Requires membership MPRA;  Requires DCRA membership $80; Range Fee of $70 or $10 per visit; program runs April to October on Wednesday evenings and Sundays (weather & DoD permitting); guests allowed

Target Rifle (TR)

.308 Winchester or .223 Remington single shot, bolt action rifle.

Rifle max weight = 6.5 kg, and 0.5 kg minimum trigger weight.

Bullet weights not to exceed 156 grains (.308) and 90 grains (.223). Minimum trigger weight not to less 0.5 kilograms, however some countries restrict rifle weight.

Any vernier peep sight is allowed and a diopter may be fitted to the rear sight. An eagle eye may be fitted to the front sight. A spirit level may be fitted to the rifle and a telescope can be used for spotting. The rifle must be fired from the shoulder with no support except for the use of a fitted sling.



F-Class Target Rifle (FTR)

.308 or .223 calibre singe shot bolt action rifle.

No bullet or trigger weight restriction. However the trigger must be safe.

A bipod may be fitted.

Weight not to exceed 8.25 kilograms (including bipod).

Any sighting system may be used.

A rear bag may be used.


F-Class Open

Any single shot, bolt action rifle up to 8mm may be used.

Weight may not exceed 10 kilograms (Excluding front rest). A front mechanical rest may be used and a rear support.

No bullet or trigger weight restriction. However the trigger must be safe.

Any sighting system can be used.

No muzzle brake allowed.

Magnum cartridges not allowed on the St. Charles Rifle Range.

Location

The St Charles range is situated on Saskatchewan Ave. West, just outside Winnipeg, west of the Perimeter Hwy.

The range may be accessed through the Assiniboia Downs parking lot and the roadway running behind the Assiniboia Downs Grandstand. Proceed north past the grandstand and follow the gravel road to Saskatchewan Ave. West. Turn left on Saskatchewan Ave. West , go approximately 500 yards to the west, and turn right over the train tracks to enter the Range.

We have the use of the range by kind permission of Department of National Defense, 17 Wing Winnipeg. The ranges we shoot are from 300 m - 1000 yds using DCRA/NRA targets and some metric Palma targets.

Schedule

Shooting season normally starts at the end of April and finishes in October. We shoot most Wednesday nights from 6-9 pm and Sundays 9am-2pm. All days and times are subject to range availability and weather conditions permitting. Check schedule notification email or telephone before you travel.

St. Charles Rifle Range (SCRR):

  • Availability TBD pending updated provincial COVID-19 Health Regulations and CFB Winnipeg access guidelines

Competitions

Local competitions are scheduled on various weekends.

Manitoba Provincial High Power Championships were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to range closure in compliance with provincial COVID-19 health regulations.

We send shooters to The DCRA National Championship in Ottawa, where representatives for the Canadian Rifle Team to Bisley are selected and to the Saskatchewan Open and the Prairie Provinces Annual Matches held at the North Star Range (Nokomis, SK).
